We try to leave our house as close to 7am every morning. The kids need to be to school by 7:50 but like to get there as close to 7:30 as possible to spend time with friends before classes start. When we leave the house right at 7, we get to school by 7:25. So you would think that if we leave the house by 7:10 (just 10 minutes later), we'd still get to school 10 minutes later as well (which would be 7:35). But...that's not how it works. Because if we leave our house by 7:10, we end up getting to school at 7:45. And just like that, our 25 minute drive turns into a 35 minute drive. (Morning drive-time math is sometimes confusing, so hopefully you're still tracking with me here! 😜) All we need to do is make sure we focus on the most important things to get everyone out the door on time, and the entire morning commute is less chaotic, the roads are less packed, and I end up saving a lot of time driving. When you're working to streamline your Etsy business to consistently get sales, 5-star reviews, and repeat customers, it's important to focus on the things that will get you there, fast. You don't want to waste your time on things that aren't going to bring you success (like tweaking your shop tagline for the 5th time, updating brand colors, and finally finding the perfect font for your shop icon). You want to focus on the things that will give you the most growth with the smallest amount of effort (like understanding your customers' needs, pinpointing how you will serve your specific customer, and creating product titles and photos that get the views and the clicks). So if you find yourself spinning your wheels, unable to gain any traction in your business, it might be because you're not focused on the right things to move your Etsy business forward.
