I'm constantly thinking about my Etsy business. Spending focused time creating orders, thinking of new ways to expand and grow, or researching new product ideas for viability. Because when you own your own business, you can't afford to let things fall through the cracks. So, when I see opportunities for growth, I jump on it. When I am able to change my creation process to speed up production and increate quality, I make it happen. And when I need to cut our products that just aren't selling, I make the cuts. Having my own Etsy business has also forced me to do things that I don't like to do. One thing I struggle to enjoy is "change". Because once I get used to something, it can be hard to make a change. But what I've realized over these past several months especially, is that when I'm unwilling to make any changes and dig in my heals, that only people I'm hurting are the customers I love to serve, and my self. A few weeks ago, I finally decided I needed to change the way I was creating my embroidered items and I needed to brainstorm possible ways to improve my process with someone who knows even more about embroidery than me. ( I know...is that even possible! 😉) I went directly to the person who has been a wealth of knowledge about embroidery and we got to creating a new plan for how to expedite my creation process. And when we finished tweaking and changing my approach, I cut my creation time down from 35 mins to make this particularly tedious product down to just 18 minutes! We nearly cut my creation time in 1/2! Now, that gets me excited! It's not always easy to reach out and ask for help, but I know that when I ask for help from the right people, I am able to grow in ways I would never be able to otherwise. So it you're looking for some help with your Etsy business, I have one suggestion that will change everything for you. Ask me for help! Because I'd love to help you figure out a better way to sell your products on Etsy. In fact, that's the entire reason I write you each and every day. To help you crush it on Etsy! We try to leave our house as close to 7am every morning. The kids need to be to school by 7:50 but like to get there as close to 7:30 as possible to spend time with friends before classes start. When we leave the house right at 7, we get to school by 7:25. So you would think that if we leave the house by 7:10 (just 10 minutes later), we'd still get to school 10 minutes later as well (which would be 7:35). But...that's not how it works. Because if we leave our house by 7:10, we end up getting...
Yup. You guessed it. The kiddos had another 4 day weekend which meant I had to switch things up a bit today. I have been working hard on creating killer Etsy listings for my shop, but also have been working on some really incredible things in store for the go-getters here in Maker's Business Coaching! So I had to figure out how I would make it all work today with the kiddos home. I could either sleep in, take 'er easy, and end up doing a whole lot of nothing for my businesses today. OR... I...
It's simple, really. Go to that giant warehouse filled with DIY furniture. Pick out your favorites (after your inevitable 3 hour shopping trip). Load them onto the cart and into your car. Then take them home where the real fun begins. Open the boxes to find instructions inside. Simple picture illustrations make it as easy and non-threatening as possible to assemble said furniture. You begin your furniture construction with one solid swing of the hammer. The metal piece easily glides into the...
