Give Yourself A Holiday.

If you're in the United States, you're probably in a middle of celebrating a 3-day weekend because tomorrow we celebrate Labor Day.

My family and I will watch an early morning parade then head to a family cookout for the day.

It's the very last day before my kiddos head back to school, so we'll be soaking up every last minute of this summer vacation.

And although this Labor Day will be an easy one for me and my Etsy business, that wasn't always the case.

You see, just last year I was stuck sitting at my computer adjusting the ship-by date on my orders.

Even though USPS is closed on Labor Day, Etsy was still giving my customers "Labor Day" as a ship date.

That meant that I had to go through every single order that was supposed to ship that day and change the ship date to the following day.

It was an irritating way to spend my Labor Day morning last year, and I am so happy to tell you that there is now a fix to that problem.

Etsy now allows you (the seller) to pick and choose which holidays you process and ship orders on.

It's very simple.

You'll head to your "Settings" section from the left side of your dashboard, and then head to the "Shipping Profiles" section (as shown below).

From here, select the "Edit" button and an entire drop down menu will show you every holiday from the Etsy calendar.

You'll simply select the holidays you would like to create and ship orders on, hit "update" and your settings are saved.

That's it!

As you can see from above, I have selected to not process orders on ANY holidays (because I am usually celebrating with family or friends, but also because USPS is closed for most of the holidays available so I'd have no way to ship on those days).

Etsy is making it so much easier for you to have more control over your shop and how you run it.

Simple little changes to your shop can make all the difference and I hope this quick mini-tutorial was helpful!

And if you're taking the day off tomorrow, like me, I hope you enjoy a relaxing day celebrating Labor Day. We're hoping for some great weather so we can end out our last full summer day outside enjoying the sun!

We try to leave our house as close to 7am every morning. The kids need to be to school by 7:50 but like to get there as close to 7:30 as possible to spend time with friends before classes start. When we leave the house right at 7, we get to school by 7:25. So you would think that if we leave the house by 7:10 (just 10 minutes later), we'd still get to school 10 minutes later as well (which would be 7:35). But...that's not how it works. Because if we leave our house by 7:10, we end up getting...

I'm constantly thinking about my Etsy business. Spending focused time creating orders, thinking of new ways to expand and grow, or researching new product ideas for viability. Because when you own your own business, you can't afford to let things fall through the cracks. So, when I see opportunities for growth, I jump on it. When I am able to change my creation process to speed up production and increate quality, I make it happen. And when I need to cut our products that just aren't selling,...

Yup. You guessed it. The kiddos had another 4 day weekend which meant I had to switch things up a bit today. I have been working hard on creating killer Etsy listings for my shop, but also have been working on some really incredible things in store for the go-getters here in Maker's Business Coaching! So I had to figure out how I would make it all work today with the kiddos home. I could either sleep in, take 'er easy, and end up doing a whole lot of nothing for my businesses today. OR... I...
